Kudos to Gavin Newsom, California’s Governor. Governor Newsom takes the position that California universities that cave to President Trump’s mandate for higher education will have their California funding slashed. I believe the Governor’s directive is an effective method to ensure the ongoing quality of California’s postsecondary education system.
Trump is bullying universities, one university at a time. He is forcing the universities to cave to his doctrine if they anticipate obtaining full funding for their federal programs. Universities are now forced to squish to ensure their schools remain credible institutions in a highly competitive environment.
The best method to achieve the status quo among California colleges is to remain united against Trump’s never-ending assault. If our postsecondary institutions do not unite, they will experience extreme damage to the schools that will take decades to repair once Trump’s follies come to an end.
Governor Newsom’s action is fortuitous. My thanks extend to him for taking the innovative and courageous approach in responding to the assault on America’s educational institutions.
